KKR beat RCB to open their account in the points table. Chasing 205 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore were all out for just 123 runs. Bowlers Sunil Narayan, Varun Chakraborty and Suyesh Sharma broke the back of the RCB batsmen. Shardul Thakur’s scintillating half-century saw KKR score 204 for seven in 20 overs in the first innings. Another Kolkata player played a strong knock and helped anchor KKR’s win. This player is Rinku Singh. Rinku Singh played a brilliant knock of 46 runs.

Rinku and Shardul saved KKR’s batting
KKR team came out to bat first at their home ground. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was adding runs at one end. But, wickets were falling at the other end. Andre Russell’s wicket fell on 89 runs in the 12th over. After this, it seemed that KKR would not be able to reach even 150 runs. After losing five wickets, Rinku Singh combined with Shardul Thakur to revive Kolkata’s batting.

After this, Shardul Thakur assumed an aggressive form and rained runs. Rinku provided good support to Shardul Thakur who was hitting fours and sixes all over the ground. Rinku scored 46 runs off 33 balls. He hit three sixes and two fours during this innings. Rinku Singh was dismissed in the last over in the run-chase and missed his half-century by just four runs.

The journey to IPL was not easy for Rinku Singh . His father used to deliver gas cylinders and his brother used to drive auto rickshaws. He has five siblings. Rinku was not good at studies and once failed in ninth grade.

But, when he won a bike to play cricket, his father supported him to play cricket. Later on the same bike his father started going for cylinder delivery.
