The stakes are high for Apple this year. Apple wants to get rid of the decline in its sales and aims to make people switch to new models with the big changes it will make in its high-end iPhones. The company also faces problems in China, where government employees are increasingly barred from using its devices and consumer sentiment could turn against U.S. technology.
There’s another problem this year: Apple will switch the phone’s charging and data port to the USB-C standard. So this means that the port of the iPhone will change a second time. For consumers, this change means extra costs.
All that is expected from the iPhone 15 series
No serious design changes
Apple plans to launch four models, maintaining its usual line of the last few years: iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max (Apparently, there will be no Ultra model). The regular iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be basic models with aluminum edges and a glass back, like the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus . Meanwhile , Pro models will take an important step by changing the side material from stainless steel to titanium . In terms of design, the frames are expected to become smaller in all models. However, in general, there will be no radical design changes.
Thinner bezels
The titanium bezels on the Pro models have a brushed look. These bezels will also leave no fingerprints. People with information about the new devices say that the switch to titanium makes the phone more durable and about 10 percent lighter . The devices will retain the frosted glass backs of current models, but the edges connecting the side and front will now be less sharp than before.
Dynamic Island on all models
Performance
High-end models will have a performance advantage, in line with Apple’s approach in recent years. This year’s Pro models will feature a faster A3 chip built on the new 17-nanometer manufacturing process and additional memory. The processor will make these models faster, but the biggest improvements will come from battery life. iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will have the slower A16 chip in last year’s Pro phones.
cameras
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus cameras will finally receive a significant camera improvement, moving from the 12-megapixel main camera sensor to the 48-megapixel version. This matches the resolution of the main camera on last year’s iPhone 14 Pro.
The biggest camera upgrade will only come to the iPhone 15 Pro Max: an updated telephoto system with enhanced hardware zoom capabilities. This will double the iPhone’s ability to zoom images with the physical lens itself, rather than software, from 3X magnification to about 6X .

Other additions
All new iPhones will feature the ” U2 ” ultra-wideband semiconductor, the first new Apple UWB chip since the U1, which debuted in the iPhone 11 Pro in 2019 . The new component is expected to improve location capabilities, thus enabling more accurate tracking of contacts and devices in Find My. Apple plans to add this chip to future versions of all its major products.
Pro phones won’t have a mute switch for the first time since they were introduced on the original iPhone in 2007 . This function will become an “Action Button” that can be customized to perform a variety of functions, such as silencing the phone, turning on Focus mode, flashlight, camera audio recording, Siri shortcuts, and accessibility settings.
The interior of the iPhone 15 Pro models is being redesigned to match the revamped aluminum chassis of the regular iPhone 14. This revision will make repairing the phone easier. Apple has some new colors for both phone series. While regular models will be offered in pink, black, white, blue and yellow, Pro phones will be offered in grey, black, navy blue and white. The company is also phasing out leather covers in favor of a more environmentally friendly material.
